Setting the Print Area in Excel
Sometimes Excel prints many more pages than you want. It usually
happens by accident. (I have seen people print 80 pages when they
only wanted only one!) The print area is under your control. Here's
how you do it.
Select the area that you wish to print. It may be all your rows
or columns, or just some of them. Once you have them selected, go to
the File menu and choose Print Area, then Set Print Area. Now when
you click the Print icon on the toolbar or choose Print from the
File menu, only the Print Area is printed. To remove the Print
Area, choose File menu, Print Area, and Clear Print Area. The
Print Area is saved with the file. Once you set the Print Area, it
remains until you clear it or until you set a new Print Area. If
the Print Area includes non-continuous areas (blocks that do not
touch), each area is printed on a separate page. If you wish to
print a temporary selection, make the selection and then choose
Print from the File menu. On the Print dialog box, you have the
option to just print the selection. This applies just to this one
print job. It is not saved with the file like the Print Area.
