Different Cursors in Excel
In Excel, the shape of your cursor frequently changes to indicate
when different tools are available. Understanding the differences in
the cursors makes it easier to control the program.
Thick white plus
- indicates that you are ready to make a selection. |
Thin black plus in
lower right corner - indicates that you are ready to use the
autofill tool. The Autofill tool fills the cells you drag over
with the value or formula in the selected cell. |
Arrow on edge of the
selected cell (or cells) - indicates that you are ready to click and
drag to move the contents of the cell. This removes the contents
from the current cell and places it the new cell. |
